Back to school sustainability tips

The summer holidays have sadly concluded; the children have returned to the classroom, and the once bustling home, has found a new tranquillity. This is an ideal time to begin the academic year anew, embracing a fresh routine, a positive mindset, and an environmentally conscious approach. And we just so happen to have some great tips to get you started!

  • Instead of using disposable pens, be on the lookout for pens that can be planted once they've served their purpose. Yes, you read it correctly – pens that are biodegradable and can be grown into plants!
  • When it's time to replace your child's reusable water bottle, consider investing in a stainless-steel thermos bottle. Not only are they more durable than plastic ones and likely to withstand a few dinks, but they also keep drinks colder for an extended period.
  • Use notebooks made from recycled or sustainable materials. Or try using digital devices and apps for notetaking. Print only when necessary and use both sides of the paper.
  • Reduce your carbon footprint by either using public transport or carpooling with friends.
  • Where possible, walk or bike to school. Not only is it eco-friendly, but wonderful for your health too.
  • We truly appreciate the morning rush, but when leaving home in the morning, try to remember to switch off lights and unplug electronics.
  • Opt for reusable containers when packing snacks and lunches. Instead of relying on disposable food wrap to maintain freshness, consider using our Bumboo paper wraps from our toilet paper or kitchen towels. These wraps not only meet food-grade standards but also add a delightful touch to your lunchbox!
  • Join or create a club focused on environmental issues at school. Share your knowledge with your teachers, friends, and classmates. Engage and encourage more sustainable practices on-site.

By incorporating these environmentally conscious habits into your school routine, you can make a positive impact on the environment and inspire others to do the same. As we know, small actions collectively make a big difference in reducing our ecological footprint.
