What if the things we use every day could be both useful and beautiful?
That was the starting point for our collaboration with the William Morris Gallery, and the inspiration behind our brand-new William Morris Collection Box.
Bringing together one of Britain’s most iconic designers with our mission to make everyday essentials kinder to the planet, this collection is a celebration of beautiful design, nature and the idea that sustainability doesn’t have to mean compromising on style.
William Morris
William Morris believed that the things we surround ourselves with should be useful or beautiful - ideally both. We couldn’t agree more.
So when we began thinking about this collaboration, we wanted to take one of Morris’s most recognisable designs, the Strawberry Thief, and give it a Bumboo twist.
Originally designed by William Morris in 1883, the much-loved pattern features birds nestled amongst strawberries, flowers and foliage. It feels quintessentially British and beautifully captures Morris’s fascination with the natural world.
For our collection, the Strawberry Thief design has been reimagined in two colourways and brought to life across our bamboo toilet rolls.
a pattern with a purpose
Our designer carefully recoloured the Strawberry Thief artwork and split the design across 12 individual toilet rolls.
Placed together the rolls create one beautiful, continuous pattern.
It’s a small detail, but one that captures exactly what we love about William Morris’s philosophy: taking something ordinary and making it beautiful.
from strawberry thief to rewilding
There’s another reason that Strawberry Thief felt like such a natural fit for Bumboo.
At the heart of the design is nature - birds, berries, flowers and foliage all woven together into one thriving little ecosystem. Nature is also at the heart of what we do.
Bumboo is a B Corp, and we’re passionate about making everyday swaps that are kinder to our planet. But we also believe sustainability is about more than simply changing what we buy. It’s about thinking about the bigger picture and supporting a world where nature has space to thrive.
That’s why this collaboration with the William Morris Gallery also connects beautifully with our rewilding mission.
Morris found endless inspiration in the natural world. Today, rewilding gives us a way to help restore some of that richness - creating space for plants, insects, birds and other wildlife to flourish once again.
It feels rather fitting, then, that a design inspired by a thriving natural world should find its way onto products designed with a more sustainable future in mind.

We wanted the William Morris Collection Box to feel special from the moment it arrives.
Inside are our beautifully designed Strawberry Thief bamboo toilet rolls, alongside our facial tissues, kitchen rolls and handmade cold process soaps.

Of course, beautiful packaging is only part of the story.
