Donating to charity is a wonderful way to make a positive impact on the world, even if you're on a budget. Here are some suggestions on how to give to charity when on a budget:

  1. Food Bank. An astounding 2.99 million people used a food bank in the UK in 2022. Most supermarkets have a food bank drop box. Purchasing one or two extra items during your weekly food shop for the food bank drop box would make huge impact to the millions effected by food poverty.
  2. Look for brand and charity collaborations. Check to see if your favourite brands have any charity partners, such as Bumboo x The Hygiene Bank. If you find you have a few too many loo rolls, drop them off at one of 1,500 hygiene bank drop off points near you and Bumboo will refund you for the rolls. Not only will you be supporting those facing hardship, but you will also receive a store credit, which can then be applied to your next Bumboo delivery! 3. Give your time. Many charity organisations rely on volunteers to carry out their missions. You can donate your time at a local food bank, animal shelter, community centre, or any other organisation that resonates with you.
  4. Donate items. Look through your belongings and identify items that are in good condition but are no longer needed. These could include clothing, household items, toys, or electronics. Donate them to local shelters, charity shops, or organizations that can distribute them to those in need.
  5. Round up your purchases. Many online stores offer the option to round up your bill to the nearest penny, which is then donated to a charitable cause. These micro-donations accumulate over time and does make a difference.

Remember, every contribution, regardless of its size, can make a difference. Giving to charity is not solely about the amount you donate, but the intention and impact behind your actions.
