Lake Parnaguá is one of the largest natural lakes in Brazil providing water for a number of surrounding towns. And it is on the brink of disappearing.
Jaine Carvalho grew up fishing on the Lake Parnaguá with her father. When the lake dried up in 2012 due to deforestation, Jaine knew she had to find a way to prevent that from happening again and decided to study environmental management in school.
After graduating she found there were few job opportunities until she found Eden Reforestation Projects who employed her as a Nursery Manager. Since joining the team, the Parnaguá nursery has grown to house over 40,000 native seedlings, creating a positive impact on the environment and the community.
Watch the following video to hear more about Jaine's story and the wonderful work that our tree planting partner Eden Reforestation Project undertake.
